During Dive 04 of the Papahānaumokuākea ROV and Mapping expedition, at a depth of 1,532 meters (5,026 feet), this brittle star was observed with its arms deeply entwined around the branches of a Metallagorgia sp. coral. Brittle stars are often found living on corals, possibly using the coral to get themselves as far off the seafloor as possible for better positioning to catch food particles as they drift by.
